Giving 360

We all have choices to make along our journey of life.  Starting from the time that we are old enough to make our own decisions, we are writing our own story as we make those left and right turns along the way.  Many of the people I have met over my life feel that God is leading them every step of the way and that even going through the tough times will lead them to a happier, more fulfilling life at a later time.  Of course there are those folks who think life just happens, the luck of the draw, or simply, come what may.  They wonder why they are so unhappy with their jobs, their marriages, their health, and why they feel so unfulfilled.  They might even blame God for not listening to their prayers for better jobs, health, relationships and a happier life.

I believe that God is always quietly trying to guide our lives, but the loudness of our lives get in the way.  Getting the kids ready for school, racing to a meeting you are running late for, wondering what to fix for dinner and just the general stuff that seems to swallow up the whole day.  It is critical to set aside a bit of time every day to actually talk with God and listen to Him, to hear what His plans are for us, and then figure out how to achieve those plans.  The people who are successful at doing this are the ones who are letting God clear the path for them as they follow their dreams and hopes for a better life.  They don’t ask for things that are unrealistic, merely for guidance, strength and courage along their journey.

God is guiding me along a path that is lined with people who have kind and generous hearts and are willing to help other people less fortunate than they are.  The words that He shares with me every day is to find ways to make a difference in someone else’s life, someone that needs a helping hand, or just a chance for a happier life.  My new foundation is still in the developmental stage but is now called Giving 360.  It will be working with churches and non-profit organizations who agree to refer their members or customers and employees to businesses who are willing to share a portion of their profits with a church or non-profit organization.

Businesses in our country need to start “tithing” just like all of us God loving, church going members do every month. By contributing back to our community, these businesses will soon be thought of as special unique businesses that have a heart and soul, who really care about their customers and as a result, the word will spread and their business will grow.  When their customers hear about what’s going on….guess what happens?  The giving just keeps going, helping hands around in a circle, a full 360, and right back into our communities.  Here is a simple challenge to each of my readers;  give freely every time you see someone in need of help even though you may think they should “just go get a job”….give them a dollar, a cold bottle of water, or an In and Out burger, or a small baggie of dog food to help with their pup.  Just help others in need without asking why.

I have put God first in my life and I know that He provides everything I need in life….love, money, a home, my health and my mental well-being.  I hope there are friends and family out there who will put all your faith in God’s hands and listen to His plans for you.  My favorite scripture is Jeremiah 29:11-13 and it gives me hope and encouragement every moment of every day.  This scripture was written for a group of captives who were exiled from their homeland.  He is writing to say that he knows that they are not where they want to be, or where they thought He wanted them to be.  God’s message is to let them know that He did not forget about them, and that He still has plans for them.

Even in the darkest days of our lives, God has a plan.  He knows each one of us and is concerned with the most intricate details of our lives.  “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.  Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.  You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”

I hope that you will be part of the Giving 360 mission to help in the small and big ways of your daily lives.  Not just at Easter or Christmas or any other “feel good” time of the year.  Be a part of this movement to Help Others in Need with nothing expected in return.   If you are a business owner or a non-profit organization who want to participate in this mission, please let me know.  I welcome your ideas and comments and ask that you send them to
